As the player progresses through the game and unlock more weapons, they may notice that some weapons might not do the same damage every time they use it. The biggest possible reason is that the weapon has distance scaled damage. In other words, damage done depends on how far away the player is away from their target. Distance is entirely horizontal based and height differences are not considered. All distance scaled weapons do less damage up close and more damage at farther distances. However, scaling is different for all weapons. For example, sniper deals 40 damage at a straight up 90 degrees shot, but can do up to 100 damage at far range. Quicksand on the other hand, deals 1 damage at a time for close range and only up to 3 damage at a time at far range. It is to be note that most weapons that shoot multiple projectiles all tend to be distance scaled, for example three-ball or stream. Flame on the other hand, is not distance scaled, even though it acts very similar to stream. Flame deals the same damage at all ranges while stream deals damage based on distance, making it an exception to the earlier statement.
